Night Shift · Overnight prototypes for medtech R&D

Your R&D team gets a night shift.

Every night it takes problems from your backlog, designs a physical answer, checks it in simulation and leaves print-ready files on your engineers’ desks by morning.

First night free. One problem, one prototype, no contract.

Rendered one-piece printed force gauge: a flexure beam bends under a 6 newton pull and a pointer reads the force on an engraved scale.
Night 001 · Suture tension gauge · rendered under a 6 N pull
01
You choose the input. A design brief, a complaint, a CAPA, a clinician request, a failed bench test. You decide what goes in and what stays out.
02
It designs overnight. Each problem is reduced to a buildable mechanism and modelled parametrically, with dimensions solved from the functional spec rather than drawn by eye.
03
It checks its own work. Stress, deflection and safety factors from engineering theory, cross-checked with finite element analysis. Printability gates for geometry, bed fit, supports and minimum features. Rendered at rest and under load.
04
You get it at breakfast. STEP, STL and 3MF files, the parametric source, and a one-page report: what it is, what was checked, what failed, and what to try first on the bench.

One night’s output

The brief: surgical trainees can’t feel how hard they are pulling on a suture.

The answer: a one-piece printed gauge. A flexure bends under the pull, a pointer reads the force on an engraved scale, and a travel stop protects it from overload.

The gauge at rest, pointer at zero.

Simulation-checked, not validated. Printed parts vary, so every report says what to measure first on the bench.

What it builds
  • Test fixtures and jigs
  • Bench test rigs
  • Handles, grips and housings for evaluation
  • Training and teaching models
  • Lab and OR logistics aids
What it doesn’t
  • Implants
  • Instruments used on patients
  • Anything for diagnosis or treatment

Those belong inside your design controls, and they stay with your team.

Built to run inside your walls

Your backlog is your most sensitive asset. Night Shift can run in your own cloud environment, write to your own repository and send files to your own printers.

To start, you pick one problem you’re comfortable sharing. What we make from your problems is yours.

Simulated use trials

Each prototype handled by synthetic users built from real body-size data, from a 5th percentile female hand to a 95th percentile male, working through the task in a modelled setting. You see the failures they hit before you spend a real user session on them.

Send one problem tonight. Get a prototype tomorrow.

Email a short description, plus any sketches or dimensions you can share. You get print-ready files and a report the next morning. The first night is free.
